Luxury Smart Home Automation, Audio, Lighting & Network Integration

Client: Private Residential Villa
Industry: Luxury Residential / Smart Home Automation

Challenge
To create a modern, technologically advanced, and luxurious living environment where entertainment, lighting, networking, comfort systems, and security-related integrations could work together through one intuitive control platform while remaining simple enough for the homeowners and guests to use every day.

Solution
A whole-home Savant control and automation platform integrating Savant audio distribution, Lutron smart lighting, Luxul networking and WiFi infrastructure, Sonance speaker systems, TV control, rack-based power management, and future-ready integration pathways for thermostats, pool and hot tub control, shades, access control, intrusion detection, and security camera feeds.

The Challenge: Making a Luxury Villa Feel Effortless
Field Villa required more than a collection of standalone technology systems. The goal was to create a connected residential environment where music, lighting, WiFi, TV control, and future smart home integrations could all operate as one cohesive experience.

The homeowners wanted the flexibility of a high-performance system, but without the complexity that often comes with advanced home technology. Music needed to be available across multiple areas of the home. Lighting needed to be intelligent, scene-based, and controllable from keypads, touch panels, and mobile devices. WiFi needed to perform reliably across multiple floors and outdoor areas. The system also needed to provide a strong technical foundation for third-party integrations such as HVAC, pool and hot tub temperature, motorised shades, access control, intrusion detection, and camera viewing.

Core Requirements Included

  • Whole-home control through the Savant Luxury Control platform
  • Distributed audio across 10 main listening zones
  • Savant Music Service configured for owner and guest use
  • Lutron smart lighting with keypads, dimmers, switches, processors, repeaters, and motion sensors

  • Sonance speaker systems throughout key indoor and outdoor spaces
  • TV control in the lounge and master bedroom through Savant remote controllers
  • Properly designed rack infrastructure, UPS protection, and power conditioning
  • Future-ready connectivity for HVAC, pool, shades, access control, intrusion detection, and security camera feeds

Our Solution: A Connected Smart Home Platform Built Around Savant

Savant Control & Automation
Savant was selected as the central smart home control platform for Field Villa. The system design includes a Savant processor, software licensing, three Savant remote controllers, five Savant 8-inch touch panels, and the supporting connectivity hardware required to bring the home’s technology into one user-friendly interface.

From the Savant platform, the homeowners can control music, lighting, TVs, and other connected systems from touch panels, handheld remotes, or the Savant app. The system is also designed to support scheduled lighting scenes and future integrations with climate control, pool and hot tub temperature, shades, security, access control, and camera feeds, depending on the final third-party equipment supplied by the relevant service providers.

Whole-Home Audio Distribution — Savant & Sonance
Audio distribution is built around Savant, giving the homeowners a clean and easy way to select music throughout the property. The system is designed around three main music profiles, allowing separate owner and guest music experiences.

Primary Audio Zones

  • Office
  • Lounge
  • Dining Room
  • Kitchen
  • Outdoor Dining
  • Covered Terrace
  • Master Bedroom
  • Master Bathroom
  • Master Patio
  • Second Floor Study

The lounge is designed around a soundbar, surround ceiling speakers, and subwoofer support, while the kitchen includes four ceiling speakers and an in-ceiling subwoofer for fuller everyday listening. The master bathroom uses a single dual-tweeter speaker, and the master patio is served by a pair of surface-mounted speakers.

Savant amplifiers provide the main audio distribution backbone, with additional Sonance amplification used where required. Sonance speakers were selected throughout the property to provide discreet architectural audio that suits the finish level of a luxury villa.

Smart Lighting — Lutron
Lutron smart lighting brings scene control, keypad operation, and app-based convenience into the home. The system design includes Lutron RA3 processors, RA3 repeaters, Lutron keypads, RA3 dimmers and switches, RA2 dimmers and switches, 0–10V dimming where required, motion sensors, and matching faceplates.

Lighting can be controlled through Lutron keypads, the Lutron app, Savant touch panels, and the Savant app. This gives the homeowners multiple ways to interact with the home, from simple wall controls to full smart home scenes.

The Satin White finish was selected for the Lutron devices, keeping the lighting controls clean and understated while complementing the interior design.

Networking & WiFi — Luxul
A reliable smart home begins with the network. For Field Villa, Luxul networking provides the foundation for control, streaming, WiFi, data connectivity, and AV communication across the property.

Network Infrastructure Included

  • One main 48-port network switch
  • One secondary AVB switch for audio and additional data requirements
  • Two 24-port tertiary switches for deployment on the first and second floors
  • CAT6 cabling for access points, data points, and phone locations
  • Structured rack termination and decora wall plate termination
  • VLAN and IP address configuration for connected equipment
  • Three WiFi networks for fast owner access, general owner access, and guest access
  • Fiber links between floor-level switches for improved bandwidth and speed
  • A port schedule for connected equipment and coordination with other service providers

Access point placement was planned carefully, balancing best-practice ceiling mounting with the aesthetic requirements of a luxury residence. Where discreet placement is preferred, the system can accommodate hidden access points, with the understanding that performance may be affected compared with open ceiling-mounted locations.

TV Procurement & Control
The system design includes IP-based TV control through Savant remote controllers in the master bedroom and lounge.

Samsung was identified as the preferred TV brand, with an 85-inch Samsung The Frame TV planned for the lounge and a 50-inch TV planned for the master bedroom.

The master bedroom TV is intended to operate from a lift mechanism rising from the bottom of the bed, creating a clean and concealed entertainment experience when the TV is not in use.

Rack Hardware, UPS & Power Conditioning
Behind the scenes, the home’s technology infrastructure is supported by proper rack hardware, UPS protection, and power conditioning.

The design includes a 35U main equipment rack, supported by two low-profile vertical 8U racks for the first and second floor equipment locations. UPS power is included for the main AV rack, with additional UPS and power conditioning for the floor-level racks.

Power management and conditioning are also included for sensitive AV equipment throughout the home, including TVs and other connected devices. This ensures that the system is not only easy to use, but also serviceable, protected, and built for long-term reliability.

Key Learnings & Our Commitment to Excellence

  1. Smart Home Control Should Simplify, Not Complicate

A luxury automation system is only successful when it feels natural to use. Savant provides the technical depth required for a project of this scale, but the user experience remains straightforward: touch panel, remote, or app.

  1. Infrastructure Determines Reliability

The network, racks, cabling, switch hierarchy, UPS protection, and power conditioning are not secondary details. They are the foundation that allows the smart home system to perform consistently every day.

  1. Audio Design Should Follow the Way People Live

The audio zones were planned around how the homeowners will actually use the villa — from focused listening in the office and study, to entertaining in the lounge, dining areas, and terraces, to private comfort in the master suite.

  1. Lighting Requires Early Coordination

Smart lighting depends on accurate circuit information, load details, fixture types, and keypad locations. Close coordination with the electrical team is essential, especially where dimming, 0–10V control, motion sensors, and finish selections are involved.

  1. Performance and Design Must Be Balanced

In a high-end residence, visible technology must be considered carefully. WiFi access points, keypads, speakers, TVs, and racks all require planning so the finished home feels refined while still performing reliably.

  1. Future Integration Starts With Today’s Planning

HVAC, pool control, shades, security, access control, and camera feeds all require clear coordination with third-party providers. Designing the Savant system with these pathways in mind allows the home to expand intelligently as each connected system is finalised.
